About me

I am Mariske. I am a Anthropologist and a Religion scientist – in short: I am a Religious Anthropologist, always interesting in the spiritual life of others.

As a religious anthropologist, I am always looking for ways to understand and research other people’s motivations and behavior. As a hard working, enthusiastic researcher, I am always aiming to get into an open dialogue with people that intrigue or stimulate me in accumulating knowlegde. As an experienced traveller, I have learned to adapt myself easily to other cultures and countries. As an experienced development worker, I am always critically following the world of international development, and aim to contribute to reducing poverty and increasing opportunities for people, in developing as well as developed countries.

On this blog, I will write about my experiences as a PhD student at the Macquarie University of Sydney (Department of Anthropology), and of my encounters with “The Field”: the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

I would love it for you to look around on this blog, give as many comments as possible, and let me know you visited!
